Hiring for Emotional Intelligence

As an organizational coach I see it often - HR or L&D reaching out for assistance with a member of the team who is struggling to fit in or work with others. They are exceptional at their job, but there is "something" holding them back. In this blog I shared my thoughts on coaching and mentoring as part of a recent talk I gave as part of the Toastmasters Effective Coaching Pathway - Level 4: Improvements Through Positive Coaching. I am a member of the Kloof Toastmasters Business Club, Durban South Africa.

Unpleasant emotions tend to have a ‘narrow and limiting’ effect, causing us to be more closed-minded, less engaging and poorer at performing. Do you know the emotions that are driving the decisions, behaviours and culture of your organization?
